ePocrates secures Series C round of funding

Date: 8/19/2002

2002 AUG 19 - ( & -- ePocrates has secured a round of funding from several prominent healthcare and technology focused venture capital firms. Participants in the round of funding include Sprout Group, Interwest Partners, Three Arch, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and Bay City Capital. The ePocrates network provides physicians using Palm OS compatible handheld devices with quick point-of-care access to critical drug information, such as dosing, drug interactions, and contraindications. Since its launch in November 1999, the ePocrates network has grown at an unprecedented rate, with the network expanding by over 800 new users per day. The ePocrates Rx drug reference guide has been demonstrated to improve patient care and increase physician efficiency and patient satisfaction. The large size of the ePocrates network has allowed ePocrates to develop an extensive client roster that includes 9 out of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies and a variety of biotechnology, medical device, managed care, clinical trial and market research companies. Companies working with ePocrates are able to provide messaging and content hosting services to various physician specialties and healthcare professionals at the point of care. This round of funding will allow ePocrates to further develop and deploy new applications, while providing the company sufficient funds to reach critical milestones for the next steps in financing and expansion. The company is currently improving its current products and services and is also developing new applications that will be available later this year.
